'Nepali art, culture warrant preservation'

Lekhnath (Kaski), Aug 27: Chief of Gandaki Province, Dilliraj Bhatta, said time has come to attract youths towards preservation of Nepali art and culture.    
     
Inaugurating the national competition on Shree Krishna Bhajan at Batulechaur of Pokhara-16, Province Chief Bhatta reminded that Batulechaur is a literary place where Janakavi Dharma Raj Thapa and sarangi maestro Jhalak Man Gandarva were born. This place bears immense significance in terms of literary development of the country, he added.    
    
"It is a matter of pride for us to have the traditional hymn on Lord Krishna still lively in our society. It reflects our culture and customs. We need to protect these, as they also carry historical value," Bhatta viewed.    
    
According to him, adequate attention is required to preserve Nepal's art and culture in view of its richness in diverse cultures. Even the young generation can learn a lot from bhajan.    
    
The competition witnessed 17 groups from various districts including Kaski. The group standing first will be provided Rs 100 thousand cash prize, while second Rs 75,000 and third Rs 50,000 and consolation Rs 25,000. Similarly, each participant in the competition will receive Rs 5,000 incentive.

The event running in its 5th series this times is also attended a group by the bhajan group from Kathmandu. (RSS)
