Ex-President Bhandari advocates for heritage preservation for future generations

Patan (Lalitpur), Aug 24: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari asserted that it was their responsibility to preserve archeological and historical heritages and ensure they are handed over to the future generations intact.     

Addressing the 30th annual general meeting and 30th Khopring Honour programme organized by the Bhaktapur Bikas Sahayog Sangh in Lalitpur today, former President Bhandari highlighted Bhaktapur's status as a living city due to culturally preserved historical heritages and decorated with both tangible and intangible arts.     

"Bhaktapur, enriched with cultural and historical heritages, is a city established by our ancestors. It is our responsibility to preserve these historical heritages and pass them on to the future generations," Bhandari stated.     

She lauded the Bhaktapur Bikas Sahayog Sangh for its exceptional works in social services besides preservation of cultural heritages. The former President was confident that the articles featured in Khopring paper published by the Sangh would make a valuable contribution to the Nepali literature.     

Acknowledging the Sangh's efforts to the tourism promotion and income generation, former President Bhandari cited that Bhaktapur's local product-Juju Dhau (King of Yogurt) - had gained a nationwide fame.     

On the occasion, Bhandari honoured notable figures such as philosopher and cultural thinker Jagaman Gurung, senior border experts Buddhi Narayan Shrestha, Sanskrit Siromani Hariram Joshi, senior linguist Tejeshwor Babu Gwanga and singer Yogeshwor Amatya in recognition of their remarkable contributions to the respective fields.     

Similarly, Bagmati Province Assembly member Dipendra Shrestha, expressing gratitude towards Sangh's impactful social works, requested land allocation to the Sangh for the construction of its own building.     

He pledged to prod the provincial government for necessary budget for the same.     

Likewise, Sangh's President Raju Mrigendra Joshi said that small acts of social works could lead to substantial positive changes.(RSS)
