Smartphones worth over Rs 3.46 billion imported in a month

Kathmandu, Aug 24: Import of digital gadgets is soaring in recent years. 

In the last one month- Saun- alone, Nepal imported the smart phone worth over Rs 3.46 billion. Information to this was shared by the Customs Department.

Meanwhile, the first month of the current fiscal year recorded a trade loss of Rs 116.15 billion. During this period, a trade of Rs 140.60 billion was made. 

Nepal was able to make exports worth Rs 12.22 billion while the imports worth Rs 128.37 billion in the first month. 

However, compared to the same month of the last fiscal year, the imports have declined by 0.67 per cent and the exports by 9.63 per cent. 

In the last month, Nepal incurred a trade loss of Rs 70.10 billion with India alone. 

The import of Rs 77.68 billion was made from India in the first month of the current fiscal year, while the export amounted to Rs 7.57 billion. 

Similarly, the monetary value of the import from China in the same period was Rs 24.54 million, while of export was Rs 157 million. 

Moreover, Nepal has fared the trade loss with Qatar, Ukraine, Australia, Bahrain and Malaysia. (RSS)
