Mohana River swells, alert issued in costal areas

By Awinash Chaudhary, Dhangadhi, Aug.21: The water levels in the Mohana River and its other tributaries have risen because of the incessant rainfall in the Kailali district. 

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the water level in the rivers is nearing the alert level because of the flood in the river triggered by the incessant rainfall. 

The department has requested to take high vigilance in the settlements in the low land area, which are frequently inundated, due to the increase in the flow of water of rivers. 

According to the department, there was heavy rainfall in the majority of areas of the district in the last six hours. Some areas are witnessing inundation because of a flood triggered by continuous rainfall.

The District Police Office, Kailali, said that some houses of Gauriganga Municipality -7, Mahadeba, Kamda, Bhagawanpur, and Shankarpur of ward-9 and Ghodaghodi Municipality -9.
