U-20 SAFF: Nepal into semi-finals

Kathmandu, Aug 20: Nepal has entered the semi-finals of the U-20 SAFF Men's Football Championship underway in the capital.     

Nepal booked a place in semi-finals, with one match yet to play after Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka today. In the match held at the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Complex in Satdobato, Lalitpur, Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by 2-0.     

Earlier, Nepal had defeated Sri Lanka by 1-0 in the opening match and secured three points in Group 'A'. With today's defeat, Sri Lanka is out of the tournament.     

For Bangladesh, Mirazul Islam and Piyesh Ahmed Nova scored one goal each.     

Nepal will play the final match of the group stage against Bangladesh under Group A on August 22.     

The Maldives is playing against Bhutan in the match to be held tomorrow at the same venue. (RSS)
