Bhotekoshi flood: One missing in Khumbu, dozen houses, public offices swept away

Solukhumbu, Aug 16: The flooded Bhotekoshi River swept away a person and a dozen of houses and public offices combined at Khumbu region on Friday afternoon.     

The person gone missing in the flood has not been identified, the police said.     

The flood occurred at Thame of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu rural municipality-5 in the district, according to District Police Office.     

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dwarika Prasad Ghimire, said six houses, five hotels, a school and a clinic were washed away by the sudden flood.     

Seven other houses are at high risk in the area.     

Both Nepal Army and Nepal Police persons have been mobilized in the disaster site. The flood is receding now.     

DSP Ghimire further said the river flood was guessed as a flashflood due to the glacial lake outburst above Thame area. There was no rainfall, but sudden flood. Investigation to this is underway, he added.(RSS)
