Venomous snakes start appearing in Banke with increase in heat

Nepalgunj (Banke), April 22: With the rising temperature, different types of poisonous snakes are started appearing in Banke district.     

According to the Division Forest Office, venomous species of snakes—Russell's viper, gaboon, kraits have started appearing. Senior Division Forest Officer Shankar Prasad Gupta shared that snakes used to emerge out in search of cold following the extreme heat.     

Gupta added that snakes had entered to the houses of some people and were rescued, adding at least one snake is rescued from settlement daily, but sometimes up to three in a single day, he mentioned.     

Stating that more snakes have been seen in this summer season as compared to previous year, Gupta added the snakes rescued from houses were released into jungle.     

Snakes of 140 species were rescued till the date of the current fiscal year and a rescue team under coordination of armed forest guard Thir Bahadur Thapa has been formed to rescue snakes, mentioned Gupta.(RSS)
