Suspect of snow lake burst

Kathmandu, Aug.16: It is suspected that the snow lake has burst in the Khumbu area of Solukhumbu. It is reported that a big flood has occurred in the Thame area.

Chief District Officer of Solukhumbu District Devi Pandey (Khatri) confirmed the incident and informed that security personnel have been mobilized. 

He said that it is not certain whether the avalanche had come or the glacier had burst. 

So far, two hotels have been washed away and details of human losses have not been received.

According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police Dwarika Prasad Ghimire, three houses have been washed away and four to five houses are on the verge of getting swept away. 

He said that the police team has been mobilized in the area and details of the incident are yet to be ascertained. No human causalities have been recorded so far.
