By Bishwas Regmi, Kathmandu, Aug.12: It has been found that a large number of children are involved in economic activity in Nepal.
The report on children of the National Census, 2024, has shown that about 200,000 children are actively involved in economic activities for more than six months.
Of the total children 4,663,000 between the 10 to 17 age group, around four per cent, that is 186,500 children, are involved in economic activities.
The number of children involved in economic activities for less than six months is higher.
Accorded to the report, 15.7 per cent, that is 732,000 of total children between 10 to 17 age group are engaged in economic activities for more than three months. While, 10 per cent, that is, 466,00 children, have been found working between three to six months.
Meanwhile, children in non-domestic work are 13.5 per cent and in household, sector are 16.2 per cent.
