Construction of Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium begins

Chitwan, Aug 11: Bharatpur Metropolitan City has started construction of Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium at Bharatpur Metropolitan City-15 in collaboration with the province and federal government.     

According to Santosh Acharya, the head of the urban infrastructure department of the metropolitan city, works have been expedited on stone soling under the parapet. The local materials used in the construction are being tested in the laboratory of the metropolitan city, and the rod has been sent to Kathmandu for the same. He said, "The technicians and employees of the construction company have started working in the field."     

Meanwhile, Mayor Renu Dahal has urged the concerned company and stakeholders to complete the works within the stipulated time, expressing commitment to provide all possible support on behalf of the municipality. She said that the BMC will set up an office at the construction site to facilitate the construction.     

According to Engineer Jagannath Aryal, Deputy Director of the Metropolitan City, the ground will be constructed along with a parapet with a seating capacity for 10,000 spectators. The cost of construction of the stadium is Rs 755 million 91 thousand 189. An agreement has been reached to complete the construction by 22 Push 2083 BS.     

In the current fiscal year, the federal government has allocated a budget of Rs 250 million and the BMC has earmarked Rs 480 million. The Bagmati Province government has agreed to bear 70 per cent of the total contract amount, it is said. (RSS)
