Cancer Hospital introduces advanced urology service

Chitwan, Aug 10: BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, Bharatpur has introduced an advanced urological surgery with the adoption of a cutting-edge laser machine, thulium fiber laser (TFL). 

Deputy-Director and urologist at the hospital, Dr Umesh Nepal, said TFL is the latest technology of the endourology,  and the service would be upgraded as per the time. The endourology is the latest feature that works on minimum invasion.

Earlier, there was problem of tearing effect in lasers used in urology, he added, adding that it would now cease with adoption of TFL.

Dr Nepal mentioned, "Bleeding during surgery is minimal once this technology is applied. The risk rate is also very low as the tissue penetration is not invasive." Sharing that the hospital conducts 450 surgeries of urine bladder cancer and 100 prostate cancers every year, he opined that TFL technology would be very beneficial for such patients.  

With the installation of new feature, three surgeries were conducted in the very first day on Friday. 

Executive Director of the hospital, Dr Shivaji Poudel shared that they were actively involved in providing advanced services to the patients in an easy and smooth manner by importing modern technology. Patients across the country and Indian bordering areas also visit the hospital for the treatment, he added. (RSS)
