Morang, Aug 5: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that the Constitution can be amended to give more rights to the people.

Talking to media persons at Biratnagar Airport this evening, he said that the Constitution can be amended to empower the oppressed castes, regions and communities. "However, we will take to the streets if the right of inclusion and proportional representation are curtailed."

He also expressed the opinion that full proportional system was appropriate in a multilingual, multi-ethnic and multicultural country like Nepal.

On a different note, Prachanda, also the leader of the main opposition party, said the leadership of the House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee should be given to the opposition as per the practice so far. (RSS)
