By A Staff Reporter,Bhaktapur, Aug. 5: In a lively showcase of Nepali poetry, Sanjhya Sahitya hosted an enthralling event in Thimi, Bhaktapur on Saturday, bringing together poets from three distinct generations to recite their evocative works.

The event highlighted the rich cultural and political tapestry of Nepal through a series of poignant and reflective poems.

Representing the first generation of Nepali poets, Ganesh Shraman from Chitwan captivated the audience with five pieces from his latest collection, 'Aago Liyera Gauma'. His recitations, which included 'Gaun Gaunma', 'Sahinbag', 'Bagmati Ma Pani Bagdaina', 'Dera Sarne Haru', and 'Biralole Kaateko Baato', offered a deep dive into themes of local life and enduring traditions. His poems were simply structured but they were very ironical.

From the second generation, poetess Sita Tumkhewa from Tehrathum presented five poems from her upcoming collection. Her selections 'Chariso Phool', 'Rato Rumal', 'Kangsore Ki Aama', 'Ban Kanda', and 'Ek Jyaami Ko Morning Walk' explored a diverse range of topics including the essence of women’s experiences, Mundhum culture and the life of common people. The last one meticulously expressed the vast class difference, mentioning the morning walk of haves meant to reduce their bellies while that of have-nots meant to fill their hungry stomachs.

Sanjay Suman, representing the third generation, delivered five thought-provoking poems that reflected contemporary issues and personal introspection. His recitals, 'Pustouli Sapana', 'Taanashaah Bunkhyacha', 'Parkhai','Comrade Hastmaithun Gardaichhan', and 'Ek Pitko Jeevan Surilo Bhaakaama', resonated with modern sentiments and the evolving socio-political landscape. Also a talented young singer, Suman expressed complicated socio-political issues in a very simple language.

Janu Ale, a famous digital creator, commented that the event celebrated the diversity and depth of Nepali poetry and fostered a greater appreciation for the evolving voices across generations as well. "Sanjhya Sahitya's event stood as a testament to the enduring power of poetry in capturing the essence of life and culture in Nepal, offering a memorable experience for all who attended', she added. The event was moderated by Harihar Timilsina while poet Ram Gopal Ashutosh spoke on the writing styles and tendencies of the poets.

Sanjhya Sahitya presents its serial on the third Saturday of every month in Thimi, Bhaktapur.
