Lesser number of cottage and small industries registered in Parsa

Birgunj (Parsa), Aug 2: The registration of cottage and small industries in Parsa has been declining for the past three years.

The economic slowdown and a lack of an investment-friendly atmosphere are cited as the reasons for this situation.

In the last fiscal year, 897 new cottage and small industries were registered, a decrease from 1,089 in the previous fiscal year (2079-80 BS or 2021-22). In the fiscal year 2078-79 BS, the district recorded 1,488 new industry registrations.

Dhananjay Kumar Singh, Chief Industry Officer of the Cottage and Small Industries Office in Parsa, said that the trend of new industry registrations has been steadily declining. Despite increased bank liquidity last year, difficulties in accessing loans have discouraged registration, he added.

Among those new industries registered last year, 179 are related to production, agriculture, and forestry sectors; 101 are related to construction; 80 to tourism; and 358 towards services. No new registrations were recorded in the energy, information and communication, or mineral sectors.

The total current capital for the new registered industries last year was Rs 1.05 billion, with an estimated creation of 3,455 jobs.(RSS)
