Kathmandu, July 31: Various areas of the Kathmandu Valley have been inundated due to floods triggered by the incessant rainfall of Tuesday night. The swelled rivers, Bagmati, Bishnumati, Hanumante, Dhobikhola, Nakku, and Balkhu, have inundated different areas of the valley, affecting the normal routine of people.
Many settlements, roads, hotels, and schools along the riverbank have been submerged due to the flood of last night. Many people are seen trying to remove water from flooded rooms.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, heavy rain was witnessed across the country, especially, in many places of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, whereas light rainfall was witnessed in the other two provinces.
In the next 24 hours, the weather will remain generally cloudy throughout the country, and light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur in some places of all provinces. Some places in Koshi, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces and one or two places in Bagmati and Gandaki, and some places in Koshi, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces are likely to receive heavy rain to very heavy rain with thunder and lightning
According to the Department, several parts of Bagmati and Madhes provinces and some parts in other provinces are receiving light to moderate rain now.
