Govt. committed to banish bad culture, superstition from country: Minister Gurung

Kathmandu, July 30: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said the government was active in building a prosperous Nepal by completely ending bad culture, and superstition in practice in society.     

Releasing today a poster of the movie 'Agnidahan' based on a story of a woman who is abused and victimized on the charge of witchery, Minister Gurung shared the government's plan of taking the country towards modern society by ending all types of discrimination and bad culture.     

He pointed out the need for cultural revolution along with effective implementation of laws and acts to end superstition and harmful cultural practices.     

Also, the Spokesperson of the government, Communications Minister Gurung underlined that the government was fully committed to ending witchcraft, mentioning that different types of criminal activities including murdering and thrashing women in the name of witchcraft are still taking place in many places of the country.     

He laid emphasis on the need to end Haliya, Chhaupadi, Haruwa-Charuwa and Kamalahari practices still existing in different districts of the country. (RSS)
