Barsha Raut doing play in America

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 24: Actress Barsha Raut is set to make her stage debut with the play ‘Hitlor Aaudaichha’ (Hitlor is coming) directed by Bimal Subedi. 

Co-written by Subedi and Joes Pandey, the play will premiere at the Civic Theater in Akron, Ohio, the USA.

At a press conference held in the US on Sunday, which was attended by national and international celebrities Manorath Khanal, president of the Bhutanese Community Association, commended Subedi and Pandey for their dedication to the arts during the programme.

Bimal Subedi described the performance as a historic moment, highlighting the play’s focus on the mental and identity crises experienced by the Nepali-speaking Bhutanese diaspora. 

The play aims to address political, social, and mental health issues within this community and is crafted to meet international Broadway standards.

Joes Pandey, known for directing the movie ‘Sanghuro,’ is making his acting debut from this play.

 He shared his journey from acting to directing and expressed excitement about returning to the stage. Subedi praised Pandey’s contribution to the play’s depth and scope.

Barsha Raut, who recently reached the USA to prepare for the play, expressed her enthusiasm for the new venture, calling it a golden opportunity to work with Subedi and Pandey.

 The play will be premiered in Akron on August 23 and will be staged in various locations in the USA, as well as in Nepal and India.

Produced by America’s Happy Home Studios in collaboration with Theater Village Nepal, the Bhutanese Community Association and other organisations, the play’s total cost is around Rs. 20 million.

 Taiwanese filmmaker Chin Aauwau, along with artists and technical experts from Nepal, Bhutan, and America, has also contributed to this production.
