Thapa among Top Three in American ‘Favourite Chef’ Competition

By Our Correspondent, Tanahun, June 22: Arjun Bahadur Thapa, a resident of Bandipur Rural Municipality-1, Belbhanjyang, Tanahun, has achieved a place in the top five of the American reality show Favourite Chef. Thapa, who excelled in creating exceptional cuisines and dishes, is now competing to be one of the top 

three chefs. The winner of this competition will be featured on the cover of ‘Taste of Home’ magazine and awarded approximately 25,000 USD. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to cook special dishes with the renowned American chef Carla Hall.

Chef Thapa, originally from Tanahun, Nepal, has worked in a prestigious hotel in Switzerland after gaining experience in Nepal’s five-star hotels and currently resides in the UK. ‘Favourite Chef’ is a popular online competition that attracts chefs and cooks worldwide, providing a platform for culinary creativity and showcasing diverse food lifestyles.

 Thapa expressed gratitude for reaching this stage due to the support and trust of food enthusiasts who voted him into the top five among the 89 contestants. 

He appealed for more votes to secure his victory in the competition, emphasising the importance of everyone’s support.

Having spent 17 years in Asian restaurants in Britain and Switzerland, Thapa earned the esteemed British Curry Award in 2010. 

With four decades in the culinary profession, he has significantly contributed to promoting traditional Nepali cuisine both domestically and internationally.

 Thapa, a founding member of the Nepal Chef Association, currently serves as the president of the International Nepali Chef Society UK.

 Recently, he has been in his hometown of Tanahun.
