Kathmandu, May 13: Umesh Kumar Ojha has been appointed acting chief of the
Gorkhapatra Corporation (GC).
A ministerial level decision
of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology on Wednesday
appointed Ojha to the post effective from Wednesday itself.
Acting chief Ojha has
been entrusted with responsibility to exercise GC's daily administrative and
financial rights, according to the letter issued by the Ministry.
Executive editor of the GC, Ojha
assumed the office as the acting chief today. Ojha has been editor of the Yubamanch, a youth focused monthly magazine of the GC.
While assuming the
office, newly appointed GC acting chief Ojha said that he would focus on
maintaining discipline of the journalists and employees in the GC.
"I will pay more attention to discipline in the corporation, and I expect your cooperation," acting chief Ojha told heads of different GC departments who gathered to welcome him in the office.
He said he would follow the government's spirit while fulfilling his responsibilities. He also expressed commitment to heeding to editorial freedom, and urged all employees to behave respectfully with one another as all journalists and employees were equal.
An MA in Statistics, Ojha joined the GC as a
reporter on 21 June 1994.
