Women honoured for transformative role

By A Staff Reporter,Lalitpur, May 14: The WOW Women Achievers Awards 2026 honoured outstanding women and institutions contributing to society through leadership, innovation, courage, creativity and service.

The programme was organised by Media 9, publisher of Business 360, in Lalitpur on Tuesday.The awards celebrated inspiring personalities from diverse sectors including arts, sports, social service, entrepreneurship, education, public service and politics.

 The event brought together distinguished personalities from the government, diplomatic community, corporate sector, civil society, media and development organisations to honour women who continue to create a meaningful impact in Nepal and beyond.

Recipients of the WOW Women Achievers Awards 2026 included Abhaya Subba Weise in music and the National Blind Women Cricket Team in sports.Dr. Radha Paudel, nurse, author, activist and founder of the Global South Coalition for Dignified Menstruation, received the award under Social Service/Activism.

Under the Entrepreneurship category, the award was presented to Hajuri Bista, founder and proprietor of Hajuri Khadya Udhyog.In the Leadership category, Basundhara Khadka was honoured. The Inspiring Woman of the Year 2026 award was presented to Rubi Kumari Thakur.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Indira Yakthumba, founder principal of Gyanodaya Bal Batika School.

Speaking at the event, the organisers highlighted the importance of recognising women who are contributing to nation-building through dedication, resilience and leadership. They noted that the awards aim to inspire future generations by bringing forward stories of women who have broken barriers and created positive change in their respective fields.

The WOW Women Achievers Awards has continued to grow as a platform celebrating excellence and recognising women whose work contributes to social transformation, economic development and inclusive progress.
