After a decade road to be blacktopped in Gulmi

Gulmi, June 19: The tender of 2014 to blacktop a road is yet to be completed. 

The Lohani and Brothers Private Limited Chitwan signed a contract worth Rs 71.9 million in 2014 to complete it by April 12, 2016. But, the road is yet to be blacktopped.  

The contractor had bagged the contract of the project because of political backup and baiting regulatory bodies on its side but the road has been left stranded for the last 10 years. The action is finally been taking place because of pressure from locals. 

The road from Arghakhanchi Jeep Park to Jante dhunga (Sisne Haar) of Tamghas-Khamsepani-Nayagaun-Nadi-Suryatari is being blacktopped. 

The contractor has finally initiated to blacktop the three-kilometre road from Arghakhanchi Jeep Park to Jante dhunga after continuous intimation and pressure. The tenure of the project was extended time and again as no work was initiated. Finally, some action is taking place as the last deadline of mid-June has approached.  

The mayor of Resunga municipality Khil Dhwaj Panthi said that the road is left stranded because of the negligence of constructing the business.  The suffering of locals will end once the road is blacktopped. 

Saying that the road is important as it connects Resunga to Swargadwari of Pyuthan, he said that the road has become the fastest track to reach the capital of Lumbini Province Dang.
