21 injured in bus-tipper collision in Jhapa

By Bishnu Prasad Pokharel, Jhapa, June 18: 21 people got injured when a bus and tipper collided at Chulachuli roundabout at Kamal Rural Municipality-4, Jhapa on Tuesday morning. 

According to a Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Jhapa,  Krishna Kumar Chand, a tipper with a registration number (Ba 3 Kha 2166) heading towards Damak from Jhiljhile and a bus (Ko 1 Kha 5087) heading towards opposite towards collided causing an accident.  21 passengers in the bus sustained injuries, where, 11 were taken to Damak Research Center for treatment, nine were taken to Lifeline Hospital in Damak and one is undergoing treatment at Damak Hospital.

Many of the seriously injured were referred to the hospital. 

Those with critical injury, 38-year-old Binu Limbu from Kamal Rural Municipality-4, and 42-year-old Kalindra Sharma of Damak Municiplaity-5 were taken to B&C Medical Hospital for treatment. 

According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, 36-year-old Kalpana Katuwal from Madhumalla-8, Morang, and her four-year-old (name yet to be ascertained) were referred to Neuro Hospital, Biratnagar, were referred after receiving general treatment at Damak Research Center.

“40-year-old Purna Maya Pokharel from Pathari Shanishchare Municipality-1, 51-year-old Hom Bahadur Bhattarai from Damak Municiplaity-8, 38-year-old Sarada Khadka from Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-5, 46-year-old Acchyut Niraula from Damak Municipality - 5, 38-year-old Lila Chauhan from Kamal Rural municipality-5,  are taken to Neuro Hospital for further treatment,” he said. 

All other injured are in normal condition and receiving treatment at various hospitals. 

According to the Area Police Office, Damak, the 45-year-old bus driver Ashok Bot from Triyoga Municipality, Udayapur-3, and tipper driver 34-year-old Sher Bahadur Rai from Ganesh Man Municiplaity-5, Dhanusha, are taken under control from the accident spot.
