Kathmandu, June 16 : Lawmakers have called for conducting a thorough investigation into the incident in which Hari Bhusan Kushwaha, the Campus Chief of Ramraja Mohan Bikram Sah Multiple Campus based in Kalaiya of Bara district was shot dead.
Speaking during the 'Emergency
Hour' in the meeting of the House of Representatives today, CPN (UML) lawmaker
Achyut Prasad Mainali strongly condemned the incident and stated that such
incidents of murder have been taking place one after the other. He described Kushwaha
as an academic and an honest person.
Mainali referred to two incidents
of killings that took place in Bara district – the murder of Principal of Bal
Ekata Boarding School, Rupesh Sarraf at Kalaiya Chowk of Bara district last
September and that of an Indian national at Pacharauta municipality in August
last year. He urged the government to be sensitive towards the security of the
citizens.
"The incidents of killing have
been growing. The people living near the border areas are insecure and terrorized
due to the trafficking in firearms through the open border with India. A decade
ago, the Madhesh province witnessed a series of murders in political cover.
Many citizens were displaced due to the terror," he said, adding that
again a series of killings has started in the Madhesh at a time when people
there had forgotten the past killings and experiencing relief.
Lawmaker Mainali demanded that the
incidents of killing be immediately controlled and the criminals brought to
justice.
Another lawmaker Ashok Kumar
Chaudhary of the Rastriya Swatantra Party also drew the attention of the
government to conduct an investigation into the killing of Campus Chief
Kushwaha.
"It is unfortunate that the
'gurus' involved in the teaching profession are shot dead in broad daylight.
Four people have been shot dead in the Madhesh province in the last week alone.
I call the attention of the government to carry out investigation into such
heinous crimes and bring the culprits to justice," he said. (RSS)
