By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 28: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Bhagbati Chaudhary has said that literature can play a role in favour of the rights of women, children and senior citizens and the protection of the world’s environment.
Speaking at the New York Writers Workshop organised during the ongoing Himalayan Literature Festival in Kathmandu, Minister Chaudhary welcomed writers, poets, and authors from different 10 countries to Nepal. She praised literature for its crucial role in addressing contemporary human needs.
“Environment, women’s rights, children’s education, health, entertainment and respectable care for senior citizens, as well as behavioural health care, are the demands of the world today,” said Minister Chaudhary.
“You are bringing these issues to the masses through poems, articles and other literary works. If these were carried out as a campaign, the world would be developed, culture would be respected, and humanity, peace, and unity could be maintained. You have a significant role in this. Let’s start this global campaign today, I will support you.”
She expressed that the campaign could help create a beautiful world and believed that fostering love, brotherhood and a world free of nuclear weapons would significantly protect the earth’s environment.
Minister Chaudhary highlighted that addressing these issues would gradually mitigate climate change and global warming.
She pointed out that women, children, and senior citizens complement each other, and protecting their rights and respect is a crucial responsibility for both the nation and the United Nations.
“I urge you to continue and expand the role you have played through your writing.”
Minister Chaudhary called for embracing the literary movement as a global campaign, asserting that it protects both humanity and the planet.
