DJ Nawang set to perform in Namche on Everest Day

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 14: DJ Nawang D Sherpa is all set to give a solo performance at a programme to be held in Namche on May 29, on the occasion of Everest Day.

 This will mark his debut performance at the venue.

Nawang has already begun preparations for the Namche programme.

 “I am busy remixing the song and music to create an immersive musical atmosphere for the audience during the Everest Day event,” he said. 

After being approached by the organisers for a musical performance, Nawang decided to perform in Namche.

He began his DJing career in 2005, initially working as an assistant to a club DJ. Over time, Nawang transitioned into professional DJing and has toured nearly 20 districts of Nepal.

Nawang, who previously worked as a DJ trainer for almost two years, has since discontinued training.

In 2014, he remixed the late singer Jayanand Lama’s song “Ankhako Ramjham” inLama’s permission.

 The song features singer Rose Moktan’s vocals and Nawang's mixing. Before that, in 2012, he released a song featuring his vocals.

He is gearing up to release songs featuring his singing and music by 2025.

 “The lyrics of the song are ready. Now, the only thing left is to arrange and record it, “he said.

Nawang is the founder president of the Nepal Sherpa Artist Association.

 He created a unified association of Sherpa artists spread across different districts of Nepal in 2017. 

He has also been organising the Sherpa Food Festival annually on the ground floor of Hotel Hyatt since 2010.
