By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 4: Krishna Prasad Basyal’s anthology poetry consisting of poems composed in memory of his deceased mother, ‘Aama Draupadi’, has been made public.

Former chairman of the Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi recently made the book public at a programme organised by the Ridi-Ramdi Palpali Society in Kathmandu.

Regmi, praised the work dedicated to his beloved mother who devoted her entire life for his betterment.

The book profusely elaborates incredibly true love showered by an ‘ideal’ mother, who, after being widowed at the tender age of 20 with a one-year-old infant son to take care of, devoted the rest of her life to nurture the future of her son.

Speaking at the programme, Yubraj Mainali, one of the commentators of the book, said that the writer has immortalised his mother through the newly released book. He also revealed that Draupadi Devi, who was married at 14, gave birth to Krishna Prasad Basyal at 19, lost her husband at 20. The commentator heaped praise on the mother, who poured boundless love, care, and made untold sacrifices amid unspeakable trials and tribulations she endured to make her son what he is today.

Author Basyal said, “Though every mother does everything in her power for her children, the scenario in this case is different, because she single-handedly raised her son. And that is incredible.”  Before this, Basyal’s different works – “Suskera”, a collection of poems, “Abisapta Sadakko Maun Aawaz”, “Danda Sajaya Ra Faisala Karyanvayan”, “Aafnai Yatra Aafnai Anubhuti”, a travelogue, “Pariniti”, and “Aakhama America Manma Nepal” – have been published.
