Historical photo exhibition begins in Gorkhapatra Corporation

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Apr 25: On the occasion of National Photojournalism Day, the 124th year of Gorkhapatra Daily and 62th-anniversary of  Gorkhapatra Corporation a historical photo exhibition has been started at the Gorkhapatra Corporation Office.

Speaking at the photo exhibition inauguration ceremony 'Looking back at history' on Thursday in Gorkhapatra Corporation, Secretary of Communication and Information Technology Ministry Ram Krishna Subedi emphasized the protection, preservation and enhancement of historical Photographs Gorkhapatra has.

He also said that by collecting photographs from 2030 to 2060 BS, Gorkhapatra can convert and develop them as a part of the research.

"Photographs can be made part of research because Gorkhapatra is an open university. Ministry can facilitate building which types of strategy are needed for its protection and enhancement. If we work together to make Gorkhapatra prosperous,  we can achieve the goal." He said.

The Executive Chairman of the Corporation Bishnu Prasad Subedi, said that the Gorkhapatra Corporation's photo exhibition is not a common one. He said that there is a challenge to collect and preserve the 123-year history of Gorkhapatra.

The General Manager of the Corporation Lal Bahadur Airi said that Gorkhapatra has its own glorious history of journalism.

Gorkhapatra's photography department head Ram Prasad Humagai said that the work of preserving and exhibiting the historical photos from 2030 to 2060 BS in the Gorkhapatra corporation was started a year ago.


Acting Editor-in-Chief of Gorkhapatra Daily Shiv Kumar Bhattarai, Acting Editor-in-Chief of The Rising Nepal Bhimsen Thapaliya and heads of various departments were present in the inauguration of the photo exhibition.

Starting from Thursday the Photo exhibition will last till May 5, 2024.
