‘Hostel 3’ to be made with new director

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 18: ‘Hostel 3’ is slated to be the third installment of the popular movie series ‘Hostel’, which had launched many star actors in the Nepali film industry. 

The third installment will be directed by Sashan Kandel, with the script penned by Madhav Sharma. Director Kandel himself wrote the story.

‘Hostel’ and ‘Hostel Returns’ were produced by Sunil Rawal, but Rawal’s investment will not continue in ‘Hostel 3’.

‘Hostel 3’ will be produced by Samman Entertainment in association with Aaron Kan Films. 

Shishir Gyawali serves as the producer, with Shankar Koirala as executive producer, and Sudha Marhattha, Suresh Kandel, and Arjun Sapkota onboard as co-producers. 

‘Hostel’, released in 2013 and directed by Hem Raj BC, and ‘Hostel Returns’ released in 2015 and directed by Suraj Bhusal, were both teenage dramas and were successful at the domestic box office.

Kandel, director of ‘Hostel 3’ said that the third part would revolve around teenagers staying in the hostel and their future events.

Actors like Anmol KC, Salon Basnet, Prakriti Shrestha, Gaurav Pahari, and others made their debut in ‘Hostel’. 

Likewise, actors like Swastima Khadka, Sushil Shrestha, Najir Husen, Sushil Sitaula, and others debuted in ‘Hostel Returns’.

Sashan Kandel, directing a film for the first time, has been active as a singer and music video director for a decade and a half.

He has directed actors like Rajesh Hamal, Aryan Sigdel, Paul Shah, Aakash Shrestha, and actresses like Karishma Manandhar, Pooja Sharma, Swastima Khadka, Aanchal Sharma, Keki Adhikari, and others in music videos.

The writer of ‘Hostel 3’ Madhav Sharma, has been active in Nepali movies for about a decade.

He entered the field as Radio Jockey and has worked on the writing team of more than a dozen films, including ‘A Mero Hajur 4’ and ‘Upahaar’.

 Director Kandel said that the film is targeted to be released towards the end of this year.
