Orange declared as national fruit

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Apr. 12: The government has declared orange as the national fruit.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers held today decided to recognize orange as the national fruit.

Government spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma informed that the Cabinet meeting decided to recognize orange as the national fruit.

Agriculture Ministry has presented the proposal to declare orange as the national fruit following a series of discussion over the proposal put forth on the issue by National Agriculture Genetic Resources Center Genebank. The Genebank has conducted research on orange and forwarded proposal to declare it as national fruit to the ministry.
