Maoist leader Kham arrested

Kathmandu, April 2: Police have arrested leader of CPN (Maoist Centre), Kali Bahadur Kham.

He was taken into custody from Thamel of Kathmandu, according to Nepal Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police Bhim Prasad Dhakal.     

Leader Kham has been arrested on the charge of kidnapping and taking hostage and murder. The then Maoist army commander Kham is accused of murdering Koteshwar-based businessman Ramhari Shrestha after abducting and taking him hostage.     

Prior to this, the then Maoist army assistant commander, Gobind Bahadur Batala, had been arrested in connection with the same incident. He was later released. (RSS)
