PM Cup Cricket: Madhes Province stuns APF

Kathmandu, Jan 18: The Madhes Province team has defeated the Armed Police Force (APF) club by five wickets in a match held today under the Prime Minister one-day national cricket tournament.     

Chasing the target of 247 ruins for win, the Madhes Province team completed the challenge at the loss of five wickets.     

This is so far the first time the Madhes Province defeated APF in the PM cricket tournament.     

To steer the team to victory, Rupesh Singh of Madhes province gathered 72 unbeaten with four boundaries and three sixes by facing 72 throws. Pawan Sarraf contributed 64 runs while Niraj Yadav made 52 runs to the team.     

Likewise, Anil Shah scored 29 runs and Abhisekh Tiwari 17 runs to the winning team.     

Amar Rautela and Rohit Poudel took two wickets each for APF while Mausam Dhakal sent three batsmen to pavilion.     

Invited to bat after losing the toss at the Kirtipur-based TU Cricket Ground, APF had gathered only 246 at the loss of nine wickets.     

Asif Sheikh made the highest contributions to the team with 59 runs. Likewise, captain Rohit Poudel scored 58 runs. Likewise, Amar Rautela made 49 runs, Sandeep Jora 20, Sumeet Maharjan nine, Bhuwan Karki eight and Lokesh Bam six runs.
