Subedi new secretary at MoCIT

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 11: Ram Krishna Subedi has assumed office as the new secretary at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MoCIT).

Subedi was transferred to the ministry from the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission (NNRFC) while his predecessor Krishna Bahadur Raut has been transferred to the Commission from the ministry.

Subedi has previously served as the Chief District Officer of several districts and has been the spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs. He has also handled secretarial responsibilities at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Office of the Vice President. 

Before coming to the NNRFC, has was the Chief Secretary of Madhes Province.

Welcoming the new secretary, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma said that the communication sector had evolved a lot, but the laws had not kept pace. “Our ministry is tasked with overseeing and representing the modern era but the laws we have to do that are very old and in need of amendment.”

Secretary Subedi insisted that MoCIT had a special role as it was directly connected with the people. He also said that the ministry needed to work sensitively as it had the responsibility of introducing Nepal to the world.
