Sudurpashchim PA to elect committee chairs on Wednesday

By Prakash Bikram Shah,Dhangadhi, Jan. 8: The election of the chairpersons for the four parliamentary committees of the Sudurpashchim Province Assembly is scheduled for January 10. According to a notice published by Provincial Assembly Secretary Dev Bahadur Bogati on Sunday, the nomination of the candidates will take place on January 9.  

The election was initially scheduled for September 29 last year but was postponed at the last minute. 

The Sudurpashchim Provincial Assembly comprises four parliamentary committees -- Legislation and Provincial Affairs Committee, the Public Accounts Committee, the Economic Development and Natural Resources Committee and the Social Development Committee. 

Among these four, the opposition party will lead the Public Accounts Committee. Following the death of Prithvi Bahadur Singh, elected from Bajhang Constituency 1 (A), the Assembly now has only 52 members.
