By Our Correspondent,Gulmi, Jan. 4: A journalist from Gulmi has conducted a free health camp from the expenditure of his marriage feast. Mohan Basnet, a resident of Bhadgaun of Rasunga Municipality-3, organised the health camp and provided services to the locals instead of throwing a lavish wedding party.

Basnet, a popular YouTuber, organised the health camp at Bhadgaun Secondary School in his village to send a positive message and discourage the practice of extravagant marriages.

Basnet married Saru Acharya on November 28. They both said that they did not want to make their wedding extravagant, instead they wanted to do some humanitarian service from the money they could save by not throwing a marriage party.

Health workers including Gynecologist Dr. Navin Thiruva of Lumbini Provincial Hospital, Consultant Physician Dr. Shambhu Khanal, Orthopedic and Drug Specialist Dr. Ramesh Aryal and Head and Psychiatry Specialist Dr. Ashim Regmi and health workers provided health services at the camp.

Arrangements were also made for the ECG, blood tests and video X-ray services at the camp. As many as 400 locals received OPD services. Likewise, 49 persons received video X-ray service, 20 got ECG service, 108 underwent sugar tests, 43 got uric acid tests, 22 urine tests and 65 people got blood group tests.

Babu Ram Khatri, ward chairman of Ward No. 3, thanked  Basnet for arranging the health camp.  Basnet also distributed warm clothes to the differently-abled students of Upallo Tamghas Secondary School a few days ago.
