BY A STAFF REPORTER,Kathmandu, Jan.1: The first-ever 'Dallu Awas Festival – Jatra Yatra ko' (a series of musical festivals promoting Newar culture and music) concluded successfully on Saturday. The event organised by Shree Ganesh Samudayik Bikash Sewa in collaboration with Funologic Solutions took place on a street of Dallu Awas in Kathmandu.

The one-day festival that began with the cultural dhime performance by a group of artists dressed in Newari cultural attire concluded with the musical performances by singer Kuma Sagar and the Khopa Band.

Rojal Shahi, the managing director of Funologic Solutions, said that the main goal of the festival was to promote the Newar community, its traditions and music.

He said, "Yatra Jatra ko will experience a series of musical events in the future across the county. Dallu Awas Festival is the first in this series. Similar to it, we will be organising events to support Newa artists and provide platforms for newcomers."

In the event, singer Ujan Shakya performed his superhit numbers 'Rajamati chaa', 'Oh Maicha' and others. Similarly, singers Roj Man Maharjan and Nisha Deshar won the hearts of audiences with their duet song 'Aila Luwaya', the song which has become popular with people from all linguistic background. It severs the flavour of dohori to Newari music, which is not common to the Newari music industry.

Similarly, Niva Dangol performed several numbers including 'Sachika China'. She is an emerging singer and her song titled 'Sachika China' became popular among all Nepalis despite language barriers.

The festival also showcased performances such as the traditional Kumari and Bajrayogini dance and a comedy drama – 'Dha Sa Dhala Dhai' (Newari youtube series).

The event provided a platform for the local bands to participate and witnessed an overwhelming response from locals. The event also included various food stalls including stalls of authentic Newari cuisine like yomari and samaybaji.
