Waling (Syangja), Dec. 30: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Dhanraj Gurung, pressed for a bold and impartial investigation into cases of corruption.

Speaking at a press conference organised by Nepal Press Union, Syangja on Friday, Minister Gurung called for a stringent investigation into corruption cases, stating that the involvement of influential people in such cases has led to lax investigation.

Expressing his dissatisfaction over the investigation process, Gurung said, "When the investigation into corruption and gold smuggling among others begins, the names of influential people are attached which impedes the investigation in the process."

He said that such a tendency should be ended and the culprits should be brought to justice.

On a different note, Minister Gurung said that the Prime Minister could consider reshuffling the Cabinet in the consensus of the coalition partners. "The reshuffling could also be considered through evaluation of the ministers' performance and at the approval of the party," the Minister said.

He said, "Those who could work in tandem and in the spirit of the PM could be accommodated in his cabinet. Those who cannot deliver well could be sent off.   (RSS)
