By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 30: Folk rock band Nepathya released their latest track, ‘Pachaasai Barshama’ on Friday, accompanied by a compelling video on their official YouTube channel.
The song depicts a contemplative expression of time, capturing the core of the experiences that individuals have experienced throughout the years.
Issuing a press statement on Friday, the band expressed their intent to capture the essence of lived experiences in this composition.
The song, titled ‘Pachaasai Barshama Jug Kaha Pugyo Ni, Garhai Bho Imanko Manchhe Bhetina’, which translates to ‘Where did the time reach in 50 years, hard to find a man of faith’.
The lyrics delve into the societal discord while maintaining a thread of hope, asserting that individuals with integrity still exist. Amrit Gurung, the lead vocalist and frontman of Nepathya, shared the origin of the song, dating back about six years.
He recalled, “When I turned 50, Anil Adhikari from Tanahun shared a song with me. Finding two lines amusing, I expanded on that concept, incorporating bits I had come across elsewhere and weaving in some of my writings. After a few years of refinement, the song took its final form,” mentioned in the press release.
The recording, like other Nepathya songs, took place at their studio in Kalikasthan, Nepal, with sound engineer Iman Bikram Shah contributing from a technical standpoint.
The accompanying music video, directed by Nabin Joshi, offers a visual narrative of Nepathya’s journey, combined with newspaper cuttings.
Nabin, a prominent figure in Nepal’s advertising sector, has collaborated with the band since 2002. He incorporated elements reflecting the evolution of television technology, symbolising the band’s journey from box-shaped TVs to the slim screens and mobile phones of today in the video. The band has released this new song while preparations are underway for their 11th album.
According to the policy of releasing one song at a time ‘Bhatbhate’ from the album was released last year.
