FDB urges cinema halls to renew their licenses

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 29: The Film Development Board (FDB) has requested the cinema halls to operate them only after renewing their licenses.

Issuing a public notice on Thursday, the board informed the cinema houses operating throughout Nepal to function only after obtaining a license from the board and renewing it within the specified time.

The notification states that movie theatres operating in all provinces should acquire a license from the Film Development Board as provisioned in the Film Production, Exhibition, and Distribution Act, 2026, and the Film Production, Exhibition, and Distribution Regulation, 2057. 

The board has requested the submission of updated license documents for the exhibition of movies and films within 35 days from the date of notice publication.

 The notification mentions that legal action will be taken against the movie houses which fail to submit the required paperwork within the period.
