Election beauty of democracy: President Paudel

Kathmandu, Dec 22: The Election Commission (EC) has presented its annual report for the fiscal year 2079-80 BS (2022-23) to President Ramchandra Paudel.     

Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya presented the report to the Head-of-the-State amidst a function at the Office of the President, Shital Niwas, on Friday.     

On the occasion, the President said, "The periodic election is a beauty of democracy, as it is instrumental to strengthen federal democratic republic, develop the nation and achieve stability with the promotion of citizens' freedoms and rights." He expressed happiness over the EC's performance in course of fulfilling its constitutional and legal responsibilities.     

He also expressed his hope that the government would seriously address the issues highlighted by the report.     

On the occasion, CEC Thapaliya said the last fiscal remained as the election year which witnessed successful conduct of elections of all three tiers of government. As he observed, elections were economized, transparent and systematized
