BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Tanahun, Dec. 16: Works to blacktop15 kilometres eastern section of Pokhara-Mugling road under the Prithvi Highway are moving in full swing. Shyam Yadav, head of eastern road section project, informed that 12 kilometres of the road section had already been blacktopped and the remaining two kilometres would be tarred within a week.
He said that they were at the final phase of blacktopping the 4.5 kilometres road from Anbukhaireni Bazaar to Marki Chowk in Anbukhaireni Rural Municipality. They started the work on the section in June this year.
Before that, they completed the blacktopping of the road section from Satrasaya to Marki Chowk in Ward No. 1 of the rural municipality. Meanwhile, they also allowed traffic by blacktopping one side of the six-kilometre road from Dumre to Chhirkan. They used asphalt technology to blacktop the road from Nahala of Bandipur-1 to Chhirkan of Byas-12.
Yadav informed that two lanes were blacktopped alternatively to facilitate the traffic movement.
He said that the work was being done by both the Chinese and Nepali workers.
He said, "So far, 43 per cent of the work has been completed. To facilitate the travellers, the work has been accelerated."
Works on the eastern section project, contracted to China Communication Construction Company on January 3, 2021, with a deadline of mid-May 2024, began on April 15 of the same year. It is said that three big and four small bridges would be constructed along the 41.45-kilometre road section.
However, work progress has been poor in the western section of the road as only 12 per cent of work has been completed, according to Rajesh Paudel, chief of the western section project.
