By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Dec 14: The hearing on the writ of the Former Minister for Home Affairs and Nepali Congress leader Bal Krishna Khand, who was arrested in connection with the fake Bhutanese refugee scam, is underway.
The hearing by a bench of Krishna Ram Koirala, the Patan High Court judge, is underway on Thursday.
There was a similar opinion regarding other accused in the case but due to discordance in judgments in the case of Khand between Judge Janak Pandey and Prakesh Kharel, another trial under a third judge is underway today.
Pandey gave former Home Minister Khand bail of Rs 3 million, while Kharel gave a verdict of imprisonment.
Whichever agreement is sided in today’s hearing, will be the final verdict. However, if another different decision on the case is made in today’s hearing, the case will go to a single bench of the Supreme Court for a hearing.
A joint bench of Judges Janak Pandey and Prakash Kharel, upheld the order of the Kathmandu District Court, to keep eight individuals, including former minster Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Indrajit Rai, Keshav Dulal and Angtawa Sherpa, in custody.
The court decided to release on bail to some others including Teknath Rijal, known as the Bhutanese refugee leader, in connection to the Refugee fake scam.
