No Winter Holidays wins best documentary award

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 13: The 11th edition of the Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival concluded by distributing awards in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

 The film ‘No Winter Holidays’ directed by Rajan Kathet and Sunir Pandey, received the accolade for the best feature documentary. 

Additionally,  Nepali film ‘Sanai’ directed by Akanchha Karki, was honoured with the best narrative shorts film while ‘On My Father’s Grave’ from France secured the same award in the international category.

Shuvangi Khadka was recognised as the best woman filmmaker for her work ‘Age of Learning’.

In the category of best documentary short, ‘Yatra’ directed by LSM and Sahayog Raj Adhikari from Nepal, and ‘A Mountain of Memories’ from Spain were awarded. 

The festival, which featured 54 films from 27 countries, showcased diverse perspectives on human rights. The films addressing various human rights issues from countries such as Nepal, France, Spain, the United States, Australia, and India were screened, all of which were selected through open 

applications worldwide.

The festival’s jury comprised Michael Brown from the UK, Anupama Bose from India and Pashupati Rai from Nepal. During the closing ceremony e British short film ‘Yellow’ directed by Elham Ehsas was screened.
