Jajarkot, Dec. 3: Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha
Sharma has urged the people's representatives at the local levels and the
government employees to take steps for completing construction of a temporary
shelter for the earthquake victims by the middle of this Month.
Minister Sharma
said so today at a discussion with people's representatives and employees in Nalagad
Municipality of Jajarkot district.
She viewed that the building
of temporary shelters should be completed within this month of Mangasir
(mid-December) as it will be quite cold.
Nalagad Municipality
is the most affected one due to the earthquake that occurred on November 3.
Minister Sharma clarified
that the Cabinet meeting decided recently to mobilise security forces for the construction
of the temporary shelter as there was no remarkable progress in the work even
after a long period since the government decided to provide Rs. 50,000 for temporary
housing.
The district security
committee can mobilise the security forces for the construction work, as per
the Cabinet decision.
She expressed hope
that the construction of a temporary shelter will get expedited now as the district
security committee can demand additional force if the available one is
inadequate for the work.
She argued that
the government brought forth the new working procedures learning from the problems
that were seen in the course of the reconstruction of the quake-damaged structures
following the 2015 earthquake.
Minister Sharma
also interacted with the people's representatives in Sanibheri Rural
Municipality and Aathbiskoth Municipality in Rukum today in the same issues and she also visited the quake-damaged settlement and talked with the victims.
