Body Odours Indicate Dangerous Diseases

In the 19th century, doctors identified diseases by smell. Today there are more accurate and modern diagnostics, but the smell can be a “bell” to go to a therapist, thanks to which you can be given a referral for tests or sent to a specialized specialist. Pravda told readers about what unpleasant odours can indicate dangerous diseases.

Here is what Ru doctor of integrative medicine and candidate of medical sciences Ruslan Masgutov says about this medical condition.

Body odours may indicate dangerous diseases. It shows metallic taste in the mouth and smell of acetone in the exhaled air. Often these symptoms may indicate the presence of diabetes. They can also appear in a person who has switched to a keto diet, in which there are almost no carbohydrates and predominant fats (the liver begins to overproduce ketone bodies, which have such a specific smell). If you smell of acetone, you should consult a physician. As a self-diagnosis, you can also take tests for glycated hemoglobin and fasting blood glucose levels.

An unpleasant odour, which usually appears with sweat, may indicate problems with the intestines and a high level of pathogenic load in the form of bacteria or viruses.

Sweat is one of the body's main detoxification systems, and its odour can indicate the presence of toxins. The reason for their appearance in the body may be a violation of the intestinal microbiome or other infections that negatively affect health.

If you notice such odours or suspect problems with the gastrointestinal tract, it is advisable to consult a doctor. A specialist will be able to conduct the necessary research, assess the general condition of the body and provide recommendations for treatment and maintaining intestinal health.

This smell may indicate the development of tuberculosis. But more often it is associated with a deficiency of vitamin D (according to statistics, it is found in almost 90 per cent of the Russian population), which affects the immune system and helps it fight infections.

If you have a sour (vinegar) smell, it is recommended to consult a doctor, have a fluorography done, check your vitamin D level and, if necessary, after reading the tests, start taking it in a water-soluble form.

Such an unpleasant odour may indicate the development of cancer. But not all people have a good sense of smell and can immediately sense and identify it. Therefore, some clinics in China still successfully use dogs to detect cancer in the early stages.

Also, if your dog starts sniffing at you, you should urgently consult a doctor, take all the necessary tests and undergo treatment, if necessary.

Separately, it is advised that one should not self-diagnose or self-medicate (even if you have discovered one of these unpleasant odours in yourself or your loved ones). Seek help from a doctor who can help you correctly determine the cause of your condition.
