Poudel’s book released in New Zealand

By A Staff reporter, Kathmandu, Nov. 17: A memoir ‘Katha Bhitrako Katha’ (The story within the story) by Gopal Poudel was released in Palmerston North City, New Zealand, recently.

Lawmaker Tangi Utikere, City Council Mayor Grant Smith, essayist Yubaraj Nayaghare, Refugee Forum chair Bal Ghimire and Bhutanese Samaj New Zealand chair Dewan Tamang jointly launched the book that has shed light on the problems facing the refugees. 

Lawmaker Utikere appreciated Poudel for his commitment to the literary and ethnic identity of Nepalis. Mayor Smith said that Poudel was the first person from the refugee community to produce quality creative works. Essayist Nayaghare said that Poudel was committed to promoting Nepali language, literature and culture and expressed his belief that the book would receive special space.

Refugee Forum chair Ghimire and Bhutanese Society chair Tamang noted that the book would play an important role in preserving the ethnic identity. Writer Poudel said that the book had tried to highlight the various facets of Bhutanese society. He has already written three books. The latest publication is expected to be useful for those interested in studying the Bhutanese society.
