Phalgunanda Jayanti best wishes

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Nov. 11: President Ramchandra Paudel has greeted all members of the Kirant community on the occasion of the 139th Phalgunanda Jayanti on Saturday. 

Issuing a message on the occasion, President Paudel remembered Phalgunanda as a religious leader and a social reformer who ended social orthodoxy and provided guidance for economic discipline. He also expressed confidence that Phalgunanda's philosophy, based on love and non-violence, would serve to put society on the right path.

Similarly, Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav also extended his best wishes and said that Phalgunanda's ideals and thoughts, and the path he showed were important not only for the Kirant community but for the entire Nepali society. 

Phalgunanda Lingden, who is revered with the epithet 'Mahaguru', played an important role in preserving and promoting Kirant culture and working for the improvement of society. In honour of his contributions, he has been declared a national hero of Nepal and his birthday is celebrated every year as the Phalgunanda Jayanti, with programmes organised all across eastern Nepal.
