Obama's Inspiring Journey

blog

Roberta Edwards' book, "Who is Barack Obama?", is a great read that tells the story of the inspiring journey of Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States. It is easy to understand and gives you a good look at Obama's life and how he became a prominent leader in the country. It briefly explains Obama's education, family, work, and success in life, like becoming President of the United States of America twice. This book also consists of the goals and interests of Obama. He played a good role in his society, tried to reduce racism, and helped to make the world a better place, according to the book.

Besides the major character Barack Obama, some other characters in the book are Barack (Obama's father), Ann (Obama's mother), and Michelle (Obama's wife). When Obama was young, he was called Barry with love by his family members. Obama was born in 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii, of the United States. In the coming years, his mother and stepfather went to Jakarta, Indonesia. He was just 11 when he returned to Hawaii and lived with his grandparents. Barack's father also came from Africa for a visit. Obama was around 23 when he graduated from Columbia University. He decided to become a community organiser in Chicago, Illinois. He was very lucky and got a scholarship to Harvard Law School. But before that, he visited his father's family in Kenya. The same year, he met Michelle Robinson.

After he graduated from Harvard Law School in 1991, he married Michelle Robinson. In 1993, his memoir was published. Around 1996, Obama was elected to the Illinois State Senate. He became the father of two daughters, Malia and Sasha. In 2005, he became a successful US senator from Illinois. He was very intelligent and also became a writer. Finally, in 2009, Obama became the 44th president of the USA. It was important for him and others because he was the first man of African origin to become the US President.

In the same year, he received the Nobel Peace Prize for his good work. "Obamacare" is a very good health care programme in the US. Similarly, he was reelected to serve a second term as president in 2012.

The book is simple for schoolchildren like me to read and understand. There are a total of 11 chapters in this book. It is a very informative book, so I suggest this book to anybody of any age. But you can also enjoy reading this book, no matter what age you are. I got this book from my school library. The book price is $5.99.
