Search, rescue works complete in Rukum West

BY RAJU LAMICHHANE,Rukum West, Nov. 6: The search and rescue operations have been completed in Rukum West. The District Administration Office in Rukum West informed that they are working to provide relief and rehabilitation to the earthquake victims after the completion of the search and rescue operation. 

Chief District Officer Hari Prasad Panta said that the search and rescue operation was successful because of the active support from all bodies. They had also arranged necessary treatments for the earthquake-affected people. 

He said that the operation was carried out in collaboration with security agencies, health workers, local representatives, political parties and locals from early Saturday morning. He said that after the search and rescue operations, the District Disaster Management Committee would distribute relief through a one-door system. He said that disaster relief supplies have already been transferred to the local levels and wards for distribution

Any individual or organisation interested in helping the earthquake victims are requested to call the contact person of the Disaster Management Committee, Assistant Chief District Officer Prabesh Bahdhuwal, and its assistant contact person  Dilip Budhathoki. 

Till date, the earthquake has claimed 52 lives while  309 have sustained injuries in the district. Among the injured, 27 have been referred to various hospitals of Surkhet, Nepalgunj, and Kathmandu. Similarly, 174 have been discharged, and currently, 26 individuals are receiving treatment in various hospitals in the district.
