Five members of a family killed in truck-bike collision

By Nabin Subedi, Surkhet, Nov. 3: Five members of a family of Surkhet district lost their lives when a truck collided motorcycle in India. 

The deceased have been identified as Ratan Newar, aged 27, his wife, Ashmita Newar, aged 25, son, Milan Newar, aged five, other son Dhadkan Newar, aged two and sister-in-law Sushmita Newar of Aamlatakura, Chaukune Rural Municipality-7, Surkhet.

The deceased family was living in Karnataka, India for a year for foreign employment. The truck hit a motorcycle at Afzalpur Taluka of Gulbarga district, Karnataka, India. The accident spot falls between Karnataka and Maharashtra state.

Dhani Ram Dhamala, ward chair at the Chaukune Rural Municipality said that they died on the spot last night due to a collision with a truck on the main road to Goa. 

He said,” The truck coming from the opposite direction hit the motorcycle that Ratan was driving. I heard that all five members were riding a bike."
