Ex-PM Nepal stresses on agriculture modernization for higher production

Kathmandu, Oct 27: Former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has stressed the need to spur investment for boosting agriculture production and freeing Nepali people from poverty trap.    

Inaugurating the international bio-ecological practical training hosted by the All Nepal Federation of Farmers here today, Nepal, also the CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairperson underlined the need of agro modernization for maximizing yields.    

He said the government subsidy in agriculture is instrumental in reducing the cost of production.    

Though the people obtained political rights through the political movements occurred in the country, the economic transformation is yet to be realized in the presence of class-based exploitation, he added.    

Leader further said that production and employment is the foundation of socialism highlighting the necessity of linking people with agro production for entrepreneurship promotion.    

Federation Chairperson Balaram Banskota accused the multinational companies of ruining agro production structure and factories by replacing indigenous seeds.    

The training being attended by 32 farmers from 11 countries, including Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Argentina, Nigeria and Belgium will last on November 14.  (RSS)
